Each year, an incredible team of wedding professionals comes together to auction off a “Wedding In A Box” for a local Los Angeles foundation, Camp SoCal Hearts. All of the vendors offer a list of services included in the wedding package which is then auctioned off online to the highest bidder, with all proceeds benefiting the foundation. Camp SoCal Hearts provides children who have been placed in the foster care system or are living in a homeless shelter for the summer with performing art based week-long camp where they can enjoy a safe and loving summer environment. Our bride and groom Vanessa & Jeff were last year’s winners of the Wedding In A Box auction who’s spectacularly designed wedding took place this January at Carondelet House.

How long have you known each other, and how did you meet?

Jeff and I met in 2010 during our senior year of college through mutual friends and instantly clicked. I immediately knew Jeff was someone special that I always hoped to have in my life, but it wasn’t until my birthday (after graduation and 2 days before Jeff’s one-way flight home to Portland) that I realized we should be together. He was home for 5 weeks before moving back to Los Angeles. We’ve been together ever since.

When and how did you get engaged?

March 2015. The day Jeff moved back to LA (July 2011) we went to Griffith Park Observatory with friends. It was a great night, and one we remember fondly. One day Jeff suggested we go back to the observatory for a casual evening with a Taco Bell dinner (our favorite college haunt). I knew something was up when he said we should find the trail we walked along that first night at the observatory.
