The Weingart Center is a non-profit organization that dedicates itself to empowering and transforming lives within the community. Each year they host a gala to mark another year of success and to continue the fight against poverty and homelessness. On November 2 Vibiana hosted the Transformation Gala where owners Amy Knoll Fraser and Chef Neal Fraser were honored at the gala for their leadership and dedication to this well deserving cause.
Last year’s gala at Vibiana honored four leaders who spearheaded a renewed effort to combat homelessness across Los Angeles. Due to the influence of Mayor Eric Garcetti, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, United Way President Elise Buik and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce President Gary Toebben, Proposition HHH was passed last November. That measure will raise $1.5 billion to get 10,000 homeless people off the streets and into permanent supportive housing. Additionally, they guided County Measure H to victory in March, which will help pay for the services those individuals will need to truly break the cycle of homelessness.
