June 24th at the Pacific Club, Raphael Conelly, Owner and Publisher of Modèle Weddings Magazine, lead a panel discussion with four of Southern California’s leading Wedding Photographers and Film Makers.
“Squaring The Circle” is an ancient mathematical idea which has been used as a metaphor for doing the impossible.
A native of Boston, Raphael Conelly move to Santa Barbara in 1990 to attend Brooks Institute of Photography. In 1994 he moved to Hollywood, choosing entertainment and commercial photography to express his creativity. After 12 years his images had appeared in The September Issue of Vogue, American Cinematographer, Angeleno Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter and others. Raphael’s client list includes DreamWorks Nashville, Capitol Records, PBS, Universal Music Company, Office Depot, The Christopher Lowell Show, Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics and Joico Haircare. His portfolio includes Oscar and Emmy award winning actors and Grammy award winning recording artists.
In 2010 Raphael added publisher to his resume when he launched modèle weddings magazine. The first issue was a small Southern California release, but it was proof of concept for a national publication. The second issue was available nationwide at Barnes & Noble, Ralphs and Albertsons Supermarkets and an array of other news and media outlets. In all, almost 600 retail locations in California and over 1300 nationwide. Raphael is now focusing on showcasing both established and up and coming talent in the wedding industry.
Our award winning Panelists – Mike Colon, Gene Higa, Brian Callaway and David Robin discussed capturing the moment, the art of getting published, working with main stream media, and the best practices in the luxury market. They also answered our burning questions regarding their own marketing philosophies.
This esteemed group has reached notoriety not only through their photographic artistry but in their desire to teach and give back to their craft and industry. As individuals they have inspired and encouraged the next generation of photographers. As a group they presented a wealth of knowledge and an unforgettable WIPA Educational experience.
